Paint Me Over

The lyrics of the song says:

"You want me to be what you want me to be
But you can't Paint me over,

you tried to paint me over
I tried my best to be your everything
But you can't Paint me over,

you tried to paint me over"

Its the beginning of  a new year and I can't help but wonder why everyone is posting on social networks about being a new person and changing for the better but leaving people behind in the new year. Help me understand..... why do people accept a person for who you they are but as time progresses, they want a person to change? Is it safe to say that a person never really accepts a person for who they are? It’s easy to focus on others’ faults and what we would like to change about them. But understand that we are all created differently with our own talents, thoughts, opinions, and we all do things the way we like to. Who says that your way is the right way and the next persons' is the wrong way? Rather than being frustrated with a person and trying to change them - how about we uplift them and appreciate their values.

So for the new year, focus on you and being a better you but without changing the way the next person knows how to be them :-)
